Sakuan Izumi
Upon graduation from school, Ms. Izumi was a graphic designer for 10 years before she decided to become an illustrator. Ms. Izumi says, "I draw fun, funny, and happy illustrations with garish colors and unique
sensibilities. It is always my goal for my illustrations to make people happy and to surprise them at the same time." People who visit her exhibitions certainly find surprise and joy with her creations, like fun cut-out signs to put your face in and take a photo as if you were at an amusement park, or a "paid adult corner," or a "Fundoshi Fashion Show" (Fundoshi is Japanese traditional underwear similar to a loincloth), or drawing directly on automobiles, and more. She is a master at utilizing these and other great devices to consistently delight her guests. "I like to boldly defy boundaries and cherish traditions at the same time."
