Makoto Osanai
Ever since he started his career as a set painter for the Takarazuka Musical Revue, Mr. Osanai has achieved broad success. His creations have been lauded in a wide range of fields including character design, children's educational publishing, broadcasting, and advertising. Many of his cuddly characters (made of clay and paper) have become icons for major Japanese corporations and popular television programs. In 2001, the character "ONE" was created for a publication and since then it has become acclaimed throughout Japan and Korea. Mr Osanai is participating in The Tribute 21 Project, which provides children around the world with educational and cultural opportunities. With half of the funds money being donated to UNESCO, his characters highlight the project's importance. He has had a solo show in Tokyo and Kobe every two years.
